ARC students take second place in international competition “URBAN SOS 2017: hOUR CITY”

ARC students took the second place in international competition “URBAN SOS 2017: hOUR CITY”. The competition was open to undergraduate and graduate students at all levels of higher education around the world. Representing Bangkok, Thailand, the following SoA+D students are Ms. Wilaiwan Prathumwong (Master Degree in Urban management), Ms. Patcharida Sricome (5th year student taking Bachelor Degree in Architecture), and Ms.Perada Plitponkarnpim (5th year student in Bachelor Degree in Architecture).

A total of US$15,000 in prize money would be distributed among the finalist teams. The winning team also would receive up to US$25,000 of in-kind support from AECOM to create a real-world pilot of their project. This in-kind support is available for up to one year after the announcement of the winning team.

Urban SOS 2017: hOUR City is a project of AECOM and Van Alen Institute, in collaboration with 100 Resilient Cities – Pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation. The competition was launched in May 2, 2017 and 16 semifinalist teams were identified. Finally, the jury selected 4 finalist teams to refine the proposal in the presentation until January 2018; thus, the finalist teams traveled to Los Angeles, California, USA for the final adjudication and announcement of the winning teams.
