Creative Fun with Bamboo Crafts Workshop at School of Architecture and Design on 10th – 14th December 2018

The students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore joined the bamboo crafts workshops, learning Thai handicraft wisdom which has been extended to the design work in the future. Asst. Prof. Nanthana Boonla-or (lecturer in Industrial Design program) provided a lecture on bamboo crafts. The students were able to learn the basic knowledge, wicker processes in various forms, dyeing techniques and also bamboo craftsmanship in contemporary contexts. With expert artisans who closely gave advice, the students also produced their own bamboo products. Thus, the wisdom gained by the participants would be the basis for work and design of wickerwork, and woodwork, which could be applied to other materials in order to continue to create in the future.
