Special Lecture on Climate-Responsive Architecture and Adaptive Design Hosted by SoA+D
A special lecture “Climate Perception and Adaptive Intelligence” was organized for the ARC 281: Environmental Technology 1 course on August 20, 2026, in collaboration with the D/E/S Lab (Design for Environmental and Sustainable Development Lab) headed by Dr. Acharawan Chutarat.
Prof. Mainak Ghosh from the Department of Architecture, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India shared key insights on how vernacular architecture reflects generations of climate-responsive knowledge and how these traditional principles can guide contemporary sustainable design. The lecture also highlighted the CLIP-AI framework, connecting traditional wisdom, climate science, and human perception to propose a shift toward more climate-literate, adaptive, and intelligent architecture for the future.
