Contemporary Japanese Architecture Talk Series 2026
SoA+D KMUTT successfully hosted the second lecture of the “Contemporary Japanese Architecture Talk Series 2026” on May 6, 2026 at The Japan Foundation Bangkok.
The lecture featured Shigeki Maeda from Geo-Graphic Design Lab, a renowned Japanese architect and educator, who shared his perspectives on contemporary Japanese architecture, sustainable design, and culturally sensitive architectural practices through his lecture:
“How Can We Design and Operate Public Spaces in Asia Without Separating ‘Making’ and ‘Using’?”
Participants gained valuable insights from his internationally recognized projects, including multiple Good Design Award recognitions for projects such as UMIKARA and Mont Park, as well as awards from the Japan Institute of Architects and the Osaka Association of Architects and Building Engineers. His notable projects also include MiiMo Miyake Town Community Center.
This lecture series aimed to promote academic exchange and strengthen collaboration between Thailand and Japan among students, academics, and design professionals.
