Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee, HAS Design and Research, joined the graduate architectural design studio review.

This semester, Master’s students from the School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D) were invited to develop a new school for a Myanmar migrant community. After conducting anthropological fieldwork and gathering interviews and measurements, they are now proposing a new curriculum that addresses the existing social, economic, and pedagogical challenges. In addition to the educational program, they have also designed an architectural project aimed at improving the learning conditions and overall well-being of these underserved children.

Considering the local climate, many students explored ways to incorporate natural light and ventilation into their designs through distinctive roof structures and variations in enclosure. This approach aims to create an optimal learning environment as well as a secure and playful atmosphere for the children.

Last week, the students had the opportunity to present their work to a panel of distinguished architects from Bangkok, which included:
– Jenchieh Hung from HAS Design and Research
– Kulthida Songkittipakdee from HAS Design and Research
– Dr. Chanyaporn Bstieler from the Lighting Research and Innovation Centre (LRIC) at the Graduate School of Design and Planning, SoA+D
– Dr. Olivier Bellflamme, supervisor of the Master’s architecture studio at the Graduate School of Design and Planning, SoA+D, KMUTT.

We are grateful for the constructive and insightful feedback provided by our guests, and the students are diligently working to incorporate these comments into their final designs.
