Speakers Introduction:
Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee founded HAS design and research in Bangkok and Shanghai. With a diverse portfolio of completed projects in Thailand and China, the studio has emerged as one of the most critical and innovative players among the new generation of Thai and Asian architects. Their recent works include the Aluminum Grotto and Public Ground in Greater Bangkok—architectural designs that simulate traditional and natural forms, creating cavernous spaces that evoke the natural world within a bustling environment. They have also contributed to various public buildings, such as the Simple Art Museum and MoMA Thailand, as well as The Glade Bookstore, located in both Thailand and China. The work of Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee has garnered international attention, being featured in several prominent publications, including Architectural Record (New York), Wallpaper* (London), Images Publishing (Australia), Domus (Italy), Architectural Digest, SPACE, and Dezeen, among others.
Hung And Songkittipakdee (HAS) has built an international reputation through its successful competition entries, with their work distinguished by a synthesis of form, pattern, material, and technology, resulting in singular, irreducible constructions. Their innovative work has been celebrated with numerous awards, including the Thailand Thematic Pavilion of the Year Award at The Association of Siamese Architects Under Royal Patronage Exposition, the Australia INDE Award, Wallpaper* Architects’ Directory, Thailand Prestige Award, and Designer of the Year Award. In addition to their design practice, Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee serve as visiting professors and design critics in architecture at Tongji University, Chulalongkorn University, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
