A Special Lecture and Workshop on “Sediment Dynamics Shape Delta and Coastal Resilience” was delivered by Prof. Anne Baar from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) on 28 October 2025 at the Science Connect Room, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangmod Campus. The event was organized under the Reinventing University Project 2025, a project aimed at developing excellence in higher education institutions and advancing human resources.
The lecture “Sediment Dynamics Shape Delta and Coastal Resilience” explores how sediment transport, hydrodynamics, and ecosystems shape coasts and deltas. Focusing on the Mekong Delta, Prof. Anne Baar shows that reduced river sediment from human activities drives severe coastal erosion and mangrove loss. These insights also inform future coastal management strategies in Bang Khun Thian.
