Prof. Peter Robert Boyce, a renowned expert in lighting science, delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “The Future of Lighting Practice” at the Knowledge Exchange Building (KX) in Thailand, attended by over 100 professionals, academics, and international guests.
He challenged the lighting community to move beyond standards that have remained largely unchanged for the past two decades, noting that as AI increasingly automates technical compliance, the future of lighting practice will rely on human creativity, contextual design, and a deeper understanding of human factors.
The event was hosted by the Graduate School of Design and Planning at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi with support from the Illuminating Engineering Association of Thailand and delegates from Wismar, highlighting a global exchange in lighting innovation.
