The Lighting Research and Innovation Centre (LRIC), School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in collaboration with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organized a workshop on lighting. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, “APEC workshop on University Collaboration to Support Data Gathering and Analysis in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” was held through an online platform on 8-9 June 2021. Dr. Hiram Chodosh, President of Claremont McKenna College (United States) and Dr. Bundit Fungtummasan, Advisor for Research and Innovation to the President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), graced the virtual event and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanyaporn Bstieler, Director of Lighting Research and Innovation Centre (LRIC) of SoA+D, attended as the workshop moderator.
The workshop was mainly organized with the following
1. To build the capacity of workshop participants by developing a network between the EWG, APERC, and University faculty in APEC economies
2. To share an example of collaborative projects by Universities in APEC economies that address the APEC energy efficiency and renewable energy goals
3. To develop project ideas between the policymakers and University faculty in APEC economies, as project-based courses that will help convey energy efficiency and renewable energy goals
There were 65 participants and speakers from 17 APEC economies, joining the workshop via online platform. Participating APEC member economies included Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.
