Mr. Pisate Virangkabutra

Short Description

I am currently the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and G-Lab Social Innovation Lab at Thammasat University School of Global Studies as well as being an independent consulting and facilitating business owner. Clients include the Department of International Trade Promotion, Thai Toy Industry Association, etc.

I have 11 years’ experience as a Design Educator at Raffles International College, Bangkok campus. I am experienced in teaching students from different nationalities and backgrounds. The methodology used focuses on Cultural Behaviour, Human Centred Design, Creative Design Method, and Service Design. The projects I advise students on range from studio projects to thesis, with the range including product development, social innovation, service design, etc. (Empowerment café for a social enterprise, a saving scheme to facilitate reduction of smoking, a biomass stove to replace coal fuel)

I also work very closely with TCDC – Thailand Creative and Design Centre as an informal advisor. My roles have included consulting on projects, acting as the MC for events such as Creativities Unfold, and organising Design Thinking workshops. I also work on a contract basis with the Department of International Trade Promotion and my roles have included acting as the project manager for an annual Educational Toy Design workshop competition. This role involved managing facilitators from overseas and Thailand to educate students and the industry in new design methodology. The result is a book documenting the design process. As an independent consultant I also conduct Design Thinking workshops and give lectures on creative thinking process for various industries ranging from NGOs to Educational institutions.
